Design and Technology Curriculum Intent
Our intention is that all young Vincentians will experience success as a creative engineer by providing opportunities for children to use creativity and imagination to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems, considering their own and others’ needs. Using our project based learning approach, which is tied to our Vincentian Values, the children research, design, make and evaluate across six key areas of Design and Technology: mechanisms, textiles, electrical and mechanical components, food technology, structures and axles, pulleys and levers. Design and Technology projects are most engaging when we instil the ethos of creating something, for someone, for some purpose. These help our children to leave St Vincent’s, at the end of year six, with key skills to aid them to thrive in the 21st century.
