On Wednesday 13th June 2024, LKS2 went on a trip to The Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden, which linked to our recent narrative writing work on ‘The BFG’. We investigated the local area, had Creative Characters & Creative Collaborators challenges – we had a fantastic adventure!
One of the workshops we had was held in the Story Centre in a replica of Roald Dahl’s writing hut! The real thing was built in the mid 1950s. A simple brick structure, filled with a collection of mementoes of his family, friends, travels and interests. It provided Roald Dahl with the space and seclusion he needed to write for over 30 years. In it he invented tales of unlikely heroes, terrible monsters, and the children living extraordinary lives, all captured in pencil on yellow legal paper.
