Yesterday, across the school, children received ashes to celebrate the start of Lent. The ashes, which are a symbol of repentance, are marked in the shape of a cross on the forehead. They have two meanings: firstly they are an outward sign that we want to change our ways and turn back to God; and the ashes also remind us that when we die, our bodies will return to the earth whilst our souls return to God.
Children in UKS2 went to Sacred Heart church to celebrate with the parish; LKS2 and KS1 both had phase liturgies in school and children in EYFS were visited in their classes by Sr Ann.
