For our project this term, the children have been learning about respecting each other’s cultures and why we should do this. They also shared the dishes they made at home from their own cultures and each class made a West African dish: plantain and West African jollof rice with chicken. They have been learning about Benin and how Britain could have treated the people of Benin with more respect. The children also went to the British Museum to learn about Benin in more detail and form their own opinions about how Britain could have acted and how they still have time to act in a more respectful way. They have written letters to the Prime Minister in Year 6 to address this too!
