During our Spring term project (superheroes), we looked at real life superheroes and those who help others. Holly Class were extremely interested in vets and how they look after and care for animals. This led us onto discussing animals in more detail.
Before the Easter Holidays, we had some new arrivals in Holly Class. We were delivered some eggs and a very special incubator. We patiently waited to see what happened… The eggs began to hatch and by Thursday we had 10 beautiful, baby chicks! We were in love.
We waited 24 hours for each chick to fully dry and gain strength.
Then we carefully moved them one by one into their new home.
Their new home had some sawdust and newspaper to help make the chicks comfortable as well as a very important light to keep them warm.
We made sure their food bowl was always clean and full.
We carefully moved them so they could be safe while we changed the sawdust and newspaper.
We used extra gentle hands when returning them to their fresh, cozy home.
Holly Class worked as a great team to care for our chicks. Everyday they needed to have their home cleaned twice and fresh food and water. Throughout the whole project, we followed our Vincentian Values, focusing particularly on being compassionate, caring and loving.
We enjoyed lots of cuddles with our baby chicks before they sadly had to leave to go to their forever home where they are currently enjoying lots of space on a lovely farm with other chickens.
